Devastating News this morning..

Hi guys, I wanted to take some time and tell you kinda about how my day started. ..

I woke up to this notification on a group I am on Facebook...

"Devastating news today from Paraguay. Norberto, Julie, Timmy and Anahi were in a terrible car accident today and Julie and Timmy died. Shannon and I are absolutely crushed at the death of our close friend and her son. Please be praying for Norberto and Anahi. They were both hospitalized, but not life-threatening. God, please bring your peace and comfort."
At that moment my eyes filled with tears and I began praying for this family. Norbeto and Julie are our supported missionaries in Paraguay, where I will be going on my very first missions trip in October...

I also wanted to share with you a blog post someone wrote in memory of Julie and her life. Though I didn't know her, she sounds amazing and wish I would have gotten to meet her when I get to Paraguay, but she and her son Timmy are with Jesus now.

Please keep Norbeto and Anahi in your thoughts and prayers this week as they begin to deal with this loss. Please bring them peace and comfort.

Hello?!?!

Oh my goodness. My phone broke this weekend. Now,everyone that knows me, you can only imagine what was running through my head. I literally felt like a crazy person. I don't know if it was because I actually needed my phone, because I can't go more than 3 hours without my phone, or because (and I am just realizing this) I'm obsessed with my phone.
Yeah, I have a pretty fancy phone. I mean it's a smart phone, I have unlimited everything, including data, and it runs of the Android system. So essentially everything I need is sorta at my finger tips. And I love that for it's convenience. I do NOT love how I felt this weekend when the phone broke.
I couldn't sleep the night it broke, all i thought about was how early can I get to Verizon to get it fixed or get a new one. Guess what? 10 am was not soon enough for me. I was on the phone with customer support until 1am trying to get it fixed or get me a new one activated. They offered me an upgrade. I was all for it until they told me it would have to be shipped and that could take until the middle of the week. NOT UH! Lyndsy can't wait that long.Saturday I spent the entire day talking to my aunt and uncle (the owners on our business plan with VZW) and they said go for it go down to Verizon and do what you have to do. After MANY hours at the VZW store the lady said I would just have to wait until Monday. I could have cried.

That's what I don't like. I hate that I am so dependent on something that can be easily broken and not replaced. What would it look like if I was as obsessed with my spiritual life and my Maker, as I am with my phone? I'd probably be walking on cloud 9 all the time. This was a real eye opener for me. The only reason I am so obsessed with it is because I constantly need something to do. So why not take all that spare time and put a dent into reading the bible? Or keep using my prayer journal? Or find something; anything else to do? This is something I am definitely going to work on.
Other than that all I have to say is... What... a catastrophe!

Dear Friends and Family

Dear Friends and Family,

I want to tell you about an amazing opportunity that I have in front of me, and how I really need each one of you to help make it possible. God has been moving in me in some big ways this year, so much even that I am ready to take my faith to the next level! For those of you who don’t know I attend ONE Community Church in San Tan Valley, Arizona (www.discoverone.net). I serve on the ONEkids team as well as Outreach and Community Events teams. I absolutely love it! It makes me feel so good to really be a part of a church body and community where I am loved and needed.
Serving with ONEkids is so much fun! This past summer we had our “ONE kids adventure” where more than 40 kids made Jesus their Forever Friend. How awesome is that?! It’s such a blessing to be able to teach these kids while their parents are learning from our lead pastor, Mark Krenz. On the outreach team we do a ton of community events. For example, Polar Fest in December.  Last December we reached out to over 300 families by sharing with them about ONE and hosting an Arts and Crafts table for their children. It was really cool!
This year we have an  amazing opportunity to go Paraguay together in May for 9 days. I am just SO excited for this. Last Friday we put down our first deposit for $200 and this week we applied for our passports. I can’t wait! This will be my fist missions trip as well as my first time out of the country. I love to travel and I love serving others and this is a great way to do both, knowing that I am honoring God all the way! I think it’s just gonna be an awesome week of learning about a new culture and experiencing life there, along with building lasting relationships.
The trip in total  will cost $1800. I am willing to do ANYTHING it takes to raise this money! BUT I do need your help! I am hoping to raise half of the cost from friends and family like you. Will you prayfully consider making this dream possible for me with your financial support? Will you make a one time donation to ONE Community Church in my name for $50, $100, or even $250, for my support? Attached is a letter from our Outreach director, Stephen Ragsdale, on how you can give and more information about the trip.

I will be calling each of you in the next couple of weeks to make sure you have received this letter and to see if you have any questions. And of course, your prayers will be essential as I go on this journey. Thank you so much in advance. I cannot even being to express how much your support will mean to me as I take my faith to the next level and to Paraguay for an awesome week of serving!

Blessings and Love,
Lyndsy
