Guest Post: On being married by Chris and Ashley

Chris and Ashley are two of the best people I've ever met! I've mentioned Ashley more than once on this blog. She's writing over at Homemade by Ashley about the daily life, but most importantly, she is a craft-aholic. Ashley makes tons of cute stuff for babes, she recently did a fun up-cycle , but my favorite things of her work are the scrapbooks she makes me. Tons of character.

I met Ashley while working at a credit union in AZ, but I grew to know her and Chris as friends, when they invited me to ONE Community Church. That's where I found Jesus again, got baptized as an adult, and became part of a huge family of loving Christians. I will always be grateful to Ashley for reintroducing me to that. Since those days, we've shared many the rant together, played well over 50+ games of Settlers of Catan, and watched nearly every episode of The Office.

I find Chris and Ashley funny and adorable and hope you will too! Enjoy a little slice of their married life here.

Three questions about being married...

What's your favorite thing about being married?
Ashley: My favorite thing about being married is having someone to share everything with; having someone who will always be there to listen. Someone who is legally bound to you so they can't get away.
          Chris: Sex.

What do you think is the hardest thing about being married?
Ashley: I think the hardest thing about being married is learning to admit when you're wrong. You have to do that a lot and it's more natural, for me at least, to get defensive and argue just to win the fight, rather than allow truth to win. Even in the small, stupidest arguments.
Chris: Being right all the time. It gets tiresome and boring always having the answers.

What has been your biggest adventure as a couple?
Ashley: Our biggest adventure as a couple has been tending to our church family, ONE Community Church. There are so many trials involved, but also so many triumphs.
Chris: I agree with ^ that. Also, marriage in and of itself is a big adventure. It is learning what it means to share everything with the person that means the most to you. It is learning how to better love her each and every day. It is learning to see her the way Jesus sees her. Truly, marriage has got to be one of the best parallels for our Christian faith. It is through the love we share, that I feel the love of Christ.

Friday Favorites and other things

We’ll start with this weeks favorite things and then some other news which technically is also favorites from this week, but some things I care to explain more than others. Ok?

1. I bought some Cherry Coke today. Mmm.
2. I enjoy sending/buying postcards especially one of them I bought in Munster from a local artist.
3. I’ve only talked to my grandma and mom twice this week. Which means, the week got much better than it was on Monday when I packed my bags and was headed home.
4. I love getting mail. I think most people do. Emails, IM’s, and texts are great; they’re fast and efficient, but snail mail is fun.
5. My church(in Arizona) is doing “Summer at the Movies” and last Sunday was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Which happens to be a great kids and adult movie. So, I really enjoyed listening to that this week.
6. I cooked Mexican food again this week. You all were so kind to send me lots of seasonings and I’m using it all trust me. The family here really loves when I cook.
7. I found chicken Maggi noodles. Which may be very close to Maruchan Top Ramen. I know what you’re thinking when I say Top Ramen, but when you can’t get something as simple as that, then you for sure want it. I’ve been craving it so until my package with some gets here I’m hoping this stuff I found is pretty similar.
8. I have to laugh at myself. The once, coffee addicted, Lyndsy, can hardly ever finish a cup anymore. There’s one half full on my desk as we speak as I blog. I don’t know what’s happening to me! Ahh! I think it’s because it’s from Senseo machines and they use coffee “pod”. It’s not the same for me.
9. My foot blister has healed and I can walk on two feet again. Yay.
Note to self: get new shoes. Tennis shoes.
10. We had Chinese food for lunch, a first since since I’ve been here. It was delish.

Now in other news; I just finished getting together a baby shower gift for my best friend, Katrina, her little girl is due in September and it sucks so bad that I won’t be there, but at least I’ll have a new baby to dote on when I get home. While getting her some outfits and what not, I thought, “how cool, she’s gonna have clothes from Germany”. I mean I don’t know if they were made here, but it’s cool, to me at least, that they’re coming from here. =)

Also this morning I got a very neat birthday gift from my friend Ashley. She told me she sent me something, I knew it needed be hung up, and I knew it was something for my room. I was very surprised and a little tear jerked when I opened the package and inside was a Clothesline picture keeper.  She wrote me a very sweet note, and in true Ashley fashion everything was super adorable. See below. I loved the three pictures she included for me to hang on my new clothesline. 1.) a recent photo of the two of us from our Pinteresting night before I left. 2.) An older photo from one of the first times I served on the outreach team with ONE at Polar Fest and 3.) a picture from the day of my baptism which, in two weeks, was 2 years ago. Thank you Ashley for sending me a piece of my San Tan Valley life. =)

Already moved from this location. I din't like that it was up against the wall. Not very clothesline-ish.

Girls Night/Good Food

Girls night tonight with Ashley over at Homemade by Ashley and Michaela!
We made pizza monkey bread and pull apart cinnamon-sugar muffins.
Amazing!
The talk of Europe, jobs, etc. was also pretty great. :)

Hey! That's us!

Pizza Monkey Bread
Recipe:

-1 Tube Pillsbury pizza dough
-1 clove of garlic
-1 Stick of butter
- Pepperoni
- Shredded Pizza Blend cheeses

To Make:
Roll out pizza dough on to counter or cutting board, cut into 2x2in. squares (there's no need to be precise). Meanwhile, melt butter with garlic clove. Don't let your butter burn! On each square of dough spoon a little bit of cheese into the middle and add a pepperoni piece (you can cut them into smaller pieces if you like). Close the square up by bringing all the corners together. Make sure it is sealed so nothing bubbles out. Start dropping the balls into a pan. Brush all pieces with your garlic butter (don't be shy! Give them a good bath in the garlic butter). Sprinkle the top with cheese bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown! Serve it up with some good pizza sauce for dipping! Mmm! =)

Cinnamon-Sugar Pull Apart Muffins!
You can find the recipe here!

I found both of these recipes on Pinterst and I get really excited any time I get to actually do something I find on there!
Have you guys tried out any of your Pins?
